Behind the Scenes:
It was Hasbro's idea to give the Starlight Girls their own songs,
this was connected to the fact that Hasbro decided to make dolls of these girls, which were
originally created by Christy.
The song "A Father Should Be" by Ba Nee, says alot about how Christy felt about her own father.
Early in Christy's career she worked on a project called "The children of An Loc", a true story
about two women in vietnam who saved an orphanage of children in An Loc, one of the women played
herself in the movie, and she had adopted three vietnamese girls one which was named "Ba Nee".
A whole scene was cut out of this episode, which showed how Clash got into Starlight Music and
obtained the information.
According to Christy: Dominic was based on a young Michael Jackson. Also the other
celebrities in this episode were based on real musicians of the time. Roland Owens is Stevie Wonder.
Ron Cox is Mick Jagger. Lena Lerner is Tina Turner. Luna Dark is Madonna, which was originally
supposed to be called Cherry Bomb but Christy was forced to change it. Luna Dark is a double joke,
because it's like lunar and dark, but also in Australia there's an amusement park called Luna Park.
Johnny Deacon is Bruce Springsteen. Randy James is not based on any musician.
Trivia:
Ba Nee's mother told her that her father is an american with red hair.
There is a character among the press people when Jem introduces the Jem Jam, that looks very much
like one that appeared
in the Starbright three parter. Apparently they used the same character model, but new colors.
Same character shows up in the "Hollywood Jem Part One: For Your Consideration... ", with different
colors.
Ashley dreams of her own band with the Starlight Girls Lela on drums, Deirdre on guitar, and Becky on
keyboard, and Ashley herself singing and playing guitar.
According to Jerrica there is plenty of room in Starlight Mansion, all the Jem Jam stars
Johnny Deacon, Luna Dark, Roland Owens, Lena Lerner, Dominic, Ron Cox are staying there.
Krissie has her own room on the second floor.
According to Randy James, Ba Nee is a vietnamese name.
Apparently Starlight Mansion has a helipad.
Harvey Gabor has a garage for three cars and two of them seem to be of the expensive kind.
For the first time, Jem comes to Gabor's mansion, uninvited though.
Harvey Gabor has three Doberman Pinscher as guard dogs walking around the mansion unleashed.
What we see in the music video of "A Father Should Be" is not Ba Nee's memories since she was just a
baby when she was still in vietnam.
Disguise time for Clash again.
